How to Switch from DSteb (PCI) to Serial COM Port on an ETEL drive
The situation at the beginning looks like this. Both RJ45 are wired up directly to the DSTEB PCI card on the host computer and the serial port is probably not in use. (see below)
Please consult your electrical schematic to get the port usage of your specific system!
To switch to the serial port, both RJ45 connection must be removed and replaced with a bypass RJ45 cable. The serial port must be connected to the computer. (see below)
Now that all cables are connected the way the should. The first axis on the system must be configured to act as a master. To do so, please open the ComET application and connect to it via serial port.
Note: If you have a single axis system, you don't need change the register entry below!
In the "Register Editor" window look for Register "K170" and change this value from '0' to '1' and confirm this change by pressing the "SAV" (Save) button. After the changes have been saved, unpower the system and reconnect again (the changes will only take effect after a power down). In the drop down list in the upper left corner you should now see all the axis of the system.
